Legislation

The team at Air Energy can help guide you through the minefield of increasingly strict legislation governing all aspects of air compressor equipment and its use. This covers Environmental Protection Act regulations, Health and Safety at work, waste disposal, solvent recovery and operator safety.

Pressure Systems Safety Regulations and Written Schemes of Examination (WSE)

Under the Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000, users and owners of pressure systems are required to demonstrate that they know the safe operating limits of their systems, and that they are safe under those conditions. They need to ensure that a Written Scheme of Examination is in place before the system is operated, and to make sure that the system is examined in accordance with the written scheme.

All new and existing installations must conform to these regulations, and since 1989 it has been a legal requirement for every company with anything but a very small compressed air system to have a Written Scheme of Examination, primarily where the air pressure is greater than 0.5 bar (approximately 7 psi).

Your Written Scheme of Examination should be drawn up by a competent person (as defined in the Regulations), and this is where Air Energy can help you.

Air Energy can ensure that you and your compressed air system meet the requirements of the Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000 and can provide you with your Written Scheme of Examination. We can also guide you through other areas of increasingly strict legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act regulations, Health and Safety at Work, operator safety, waste disposal and solvent recovery.
